Course overview
Prep Week A is designed as an intensive training week to fill knowledge gaps, sharpen practical skills and build confidence before the final Yachtmaster goal.
This week does not follow a rigid syllabus. Instead, it focuses on skills and drills tailored to the needs of the crew and the standard expected for Yachtmaster progression.
What you will learn

Pre-experience requirements
- Yachtmaster Coastal: 30 days, 2 days as skipper, 800 miles, 12 night hours
- Reduced to 20 days, 2 skipper days, 400 miles, 12 night hours with Coastal Skipper certificate
- Yachtmaster Offshore: 50 days, 2,500 miles, qualifying passages and skipper experience
- At least half of qualifying time must be in tidal waters
- Navigation knowledge to Yachtmaster shorebased level required
- Recognised VHF radio certificate required
- Recognised First Aid qualification required
